Teeth Decay in unerupted teeth

Dental decay is an acid destruction of teeth and known as Dental Caries. It occurs on the teeth surfaces when oral microbes in the presence of sugar produce acid. The acid breakdown the tooth surfaces and continues until treated. This whole phenomenon occurs on the erupted teeth which are exposed to tooth-decaying environment in the mouth. An unerupted or impacted tooth is not subjected to such hostile environment and therefore, remains caries-free.
