Charcoal toothpaste

Charcoal toothpaste has gained popularity for its potential teeth-whitening effects. Charcoal is a powder made from wood, coconut shells, and other natural ingredients. Mnaufacturers add it to toothpaste as activated charcoal, which may help remove some extrinsic stains from enamel due to its mildly abrasive nature. Extrinsic stains are located on the enamel surface and are caused by the consumption of certain foods and beverages.

However, Dental Professionals  debate about its safety and effectiveness.

Potential Risks:

Abrasiveness: Charcoal can be abrasive, potentially wearing down tooth enamel over time. This can lead to increased tooth sensitivity and a yellowish appearance as the underlying dentin layer is exposed.

Limited Evidence: There’s limited scientific evidence to support the long-term safety and effectiveness of charcoal toothpaste for teeth whitening.
